Over-18s are welcome at this event with tickets available for non-student Guests and Alumni, in conjunction with a current Student ticket.  
Anyone purchasing a student ticket will be required to show a valid Lancaster student ID card in order to redeem their wristband. All attendees must be over the age of 18 and valid photographic ID must be produced on request.  
Wristbands will be collected from Lancaster University Students’ Union in advance of the event week commencing 17th June. 

Summer Ball will take place on Saturday 22nd June (Week 29). Site opens 6pm with live music from 7:30pm; the event will close at 3am.

General

  • Summer Ball is a brand-new event for Lancaster in 2024. We’re levelling up our end of year celebration with the only true way to round off your year (or your time at Uni) and start summer in style. The Summer Ball is delivered by LUSU Events in partnership with your College JCR Execs and the PG Board.

    Think of it as one big festival style event on the north side of campus, where you can expect live music until the early hours, fairground fun, live entertainment, and a range of tasty food & drink vendors.

  • No. Summer Ball is a totally different and brand-new event for Lancaster so there’s no need to sweat it out in a tux or frock all night… the Summer Ball is a festival style event where you can wear what you like. It is not a formal dinner event like a Winter Ball.

  • Whatever you like… (within reason!) We’re just bringing the summer vibes to campus and you can wear what you like to suit that whether that’s group fancy dress, colours from your College Rivals or your best beachwear, the choice is yours!

    The same dress code rules as the Sugarhouse apply for LUSU Events and that means no handwriting on clothing or bodies, and no costumes that may cause offence.

  • Same drill as the Sugarhouse. This is an over-18s event and you will need to show valid photographic ID to gain entry to the site. If you purchase a student ticket, you will also need to show your student ID card.

  • Yes, you will collect a wristband to grant you entry to the site before the event. This wristband will allow you to get in and out of the Summer Ball.

Tickets

  • With your wristband, you will get exclusive access to a jam-packed line up of performers, with headliners to be announced. You’ll get unlimited access to our fairground rides and games for free.

    Food & drink are not included in the ticket prices, but there will be a range of tasty vendors for you to choose from!

  • Wristbands will be available to collect from the Students’ Union in the week leading up to Summer Ball. If you purchase a ticket, we will contact you to let you know where and when to collect your wristband.

  • Yes, guests are welcome at the Summer Ball as long as they are 18+. Guest tickets will need to be purchased in conjunction with a valid Student Ticket of any type.

    Guests are expected to follow the same standards of behaviour as all students and where a guest falls below this standard, they may be ejected from the event. In some cases, you may be asked to take responsibility for the actions of your non-student guest.

  • Sorry old friends but Student tickets are reserved for current students. Alumni are however very much invited and you can secure a reasonably priced Alumni ticket on our site.

  • Tickets are not eligible for refunds. If you can no longer attend the Summer Ball, you can resell your ticket but both the seller and purchaser do so at their own risk. Tickets should be resold at face value and not for profit. LUSU reserves the right to refund tickets and revoke entry where this is not upheld.

  • No, once wristbands are issued, we will not be able to replace these and they will grant you entry to the event so look after it well!

Welfare

  • We believe everybody deserves to celebrate their end of year and while feeling safe. We have a range of measures in place to keep you safe at our events including anti-spiking measures at all bars, meeting points for you and your friends and a welfare station for anyone that might just need a biscuit and a sit down.

    FGH Security will operate across the event site including dedicated Welfare Supervisors. We will also have trained first-aiders present at all times.
